Plastic injection molds are typically made of hardened or pre-hardened steel, aluminum and/or a beryllium alloy. Steel molds are more expensive but often preferred due to their high durability.
Hardened steel molds are heat treated after machining and are therefore much better in terms of wear resistance and service life.
Many steel molds are designed to process mass production of over a million parts. A cheaper option is pre-hardened steel molds, which provide less wear resistance and are used for smaller volumes.
Aluminum molds, on the other hand, are usually not suitable for large-scale production or for details with tight dimensional tolerances, but can cost much less.
However, aluminum molds can economically produce tens of thousands to hundreds of thousands of parts when designed and built using computer numerical control (CNC) machines or electrical discharge
machining (EDM) processes. Copper alloy inserts are sometimes used in areas of the mold that require rapid heat removal. This shortens cycle time and improves the aesthetic quality of the product.

Each project is unique, so we need different amounts of time to build the molds. The lead time for mold production depends on the complexity of the mold. Building molds can take from 4 weeks to several
months depending on the complexity of the project.
3. How much does a plastic injection mold cost?
The cost of plastic injection molds depends on various factors, including the design of the part, its size, the number of cavities and the type of materials used. Depending on the complexity of the mold,
costs can range from several thousand euros for a basic design to tens of thousands of euros for a typical mold and even hundreds of thousands of euros for a very complex mold with multiple cavities,

4. What type of steel do you use for plastic molds?

5.How can I reduce the cost of molds?
The product developer should look for savings on molding tool costs. In most cases, a cheaper tool will be of lower quality, less durable, with looser tolerances and a poor surface finish.
These are not cost savings. Instead, they are costly mistakes. Savings can be realized in the long term thanks to production efficiency, fast cycle times and process stability. As volumes increase,
the relative cost of the tool decreases until it becomes almost free.
6.Can existing injection molds be modified or repaired?
Yes, we offer modification and repair services for existing injection molds. This includes design changes, repairing wear, and improving mold functionality. In many cases, we can modify existing
molds to create new details. This depends on the extent of changes required and the state of the current form.
7. What are the payment terms?
We usually request 100% deposit for the prototype (3D printing, CNC machining) and prototyping tools. However, for the production of molds, 30% advance payment and 50% after sample approval.
For plastic parts: 40% deposit, 30% after sample approval, 30% by bank transfer before shipment. Terms can be negotiated individually with each client.
